• Reach: Would this exhibition appeal to our existing audience segmentation or help us reach new audiences—either locally or globally?
• Inspire: Does the proposal provide an opportunity to develop an innovative, new creative experience of STEM subjects?
• Engage: Does the proposal help to establish a meaningful relationship with our Group-wide teams, the public, scientific and research communities, national and international partners and others in relevant dialogue and debate?
• Sustain: Does the proposal support our ambition to sustain and grow our world-class collection to ensure it is accessible and used effectively by us and others for research, display, learning and pleasure?

• Collection: Does the proposal use or speak directly to our collection through the prism of STEM in sound and vision technologies?

• Local/regional: Does the proposal have a Bradford or regional angle and is the National Science and Media Museum the most appropriate place for it to be staged?

The largest temporary exhibition space at the National Science and Media Museum, this versatile gallery aims to inspire the scientists and engineers of the future to see more, hear more, think more and do more. With 310m², exhibitions in this space seek to illuminate world-famous collections in photography, film, television and sound technologies.

Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 (described below) can be combined to create an exhibition covering two floors.

Gallery 2 holds vibrant and fast-paced temporary exhibitions that maintain firm roots in Bradford and the local region, in 180m² of adaptable space.

Appealing to the widest audience, foyer displays engage with all museum visitors. This space allows for low-resource, nimble 2D displays and an opportunity to feature images that speak to the wider museum collection.

The atrium presents a versatile and impressive environment for larger artworks or objects to be suspended, creating a big impact on visitors entering the museum. Sparking visitors’ interest as they first step into the space, an atrium installation can link to larger themes within the museum or highlight a part of the public programme.
