Thanks to National Lottery players, we have secured two grants totalling £3.4m from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver our new Sound and Vision galleries.
Transforming the museum
The museum temporarily closed in June 2023 and extensive works are underway to reconfigure the foyer and gallery spaces on levels 3 and 5.
Meanwhile, we are already working closely with community groups across the district to inform the development of exciting new displays, making our rich collections more relevant and meaningful to a 21st-century audience. Watch this video to find out more:

About the Sound and Vision project
Sound and Vision is a £6million project to build two significant new galleries at the museum. The galleries, accompanied by a programme of activities, will showcase key objects and stories from our world-class collections of photography, film, television, animation, videogames and sound technologies.
Bradford is one of the UK’s youngest, most diverse and fastest-growing cities. As part of the Sound and Vision project, we’re working in close consultation with local communities to make the museum the cultural cornerstone as Bradford becomes UK City of Culture in 2025. Sound and Vision also complements the city’s ambitious culture strategy 'Culture is our Plan', and supports the wider region’s commitment to building a digital economy.
The galleries will open in 2025.
