Spanning two floors, Sound and Vision will create new cutting-edge galleries, replacing outdated displays and bringing currently inaccessible space back into use. These new dynamic, interactive and inspiring spaces, will underline how all areas of our collection from photography to videogaming are embedded in every aspect of our lives.
The Sound and Vision galleries will be an inclusive and multisensory learning experience, engaging visitors in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by uncovering the science behind the everyday. Through our collection, learning programme, work experience and volunteering opportunities, we will help to close the growing educational attainment gap in Bradford and increase skills and employability in young people.
By partnering with us to realise the Sound and Vision galleries, you will be creating a world-leading destination for science learning in Bradford, helping to inspire future generations while achieving key business goals.

Widescreen Weekend is the National Science and Media Museum’s festival of big, bold cinema experiences, connecting the past, present and future of cinema technology and celebrating large-format film-making. The programme features rare screenings of films in a range of formats—including 70mm and 3-strip Cinerama—and welcomes high-profile film industry guests.
Widescreen Weekend is a unique festival which aims to introduce new audiences, including families and young people, to the wonders of widescreen. By hosting screenings and talks dedicated to students, we hope to inspire the next generation of film-makers. We also work hard to champion celluloid formats and work with national and international archives and programmers to help secure prints and share knowledge.
Partnering with Widescreen Weekend is an excellent opportunity to be involved with a unique film festival which not only showcases one-off screenings and exclusive guests, but also works to inspire and educate audiences about widescreen cinema. An exciting programme, presented by first-class projection facilities and held in Bradford—the world’s first UNESCO City of Film—means Widescreen Weekend is the perfect platform to boost your profile.
