Experience Stanley Kubrick’s galactic masterpiece on Pictureville's unique and immersive curved Cinerama screen.
When planning production for what would become one of his undisputed masterpieces, Stanley Kubrick attended a Cinerama showing—and was so struck he asked the production team to collaborate on his film. As a result, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a rare film that can be screened in Cinerama, and now comes in this special format to Pictureville—currently home to the world’s only public Cinerama screen.
After discovering a mysterious artefact buried beneath the lunar surface, humankind sets off on a quest to find its origins with help from the intelligent supercomputer HAL 9000. Travelling with human astronauts Dave (Keir Dullea) and Frank (Gary Lockwood), HAL begins to display increasingly strange behaviour, leading to a tense showdown between man and machine, and a mind-bending trek through space and time.
One of the most influential and controversial science fiction films of all time, 2001’s groundbreaking special effects, epic meditative scope and famous use of music are still spellbinding today.
