James Cagney and Joan Blondell sizzle as a con-artist duo robbing hotel guests and trying to stay one step ahead of the law.
When a bellhop (Cagney) meets a beautiful blonde (Blondell) and gets her installed in his hotel as a chambermaid, the pair set a criminal scheme into motion. They entrap and blackmail married men who are up to no good—not realising they’re in danger of being conned by a much bigger fish.
Pre-Code Hollywood: Rules Were Made to be Broken is a season of five restored films from before the Hays Production Code censored what could be seen on the big screen. These wild, dangerous and risqué films take audiences back to the heady cinematic world of the 1930s; when crime did pay, the bad guy got the girl in the end, and you really could get away with murder.
