Enys Men (15)

On an island off the Cornish coast, a wildlife volunteer’s daily observation of a rare flower sparks her slow descent into madness.

A volunteer wildlife researcher (Mary Woodvine) works among the foliage on an uninhabited island off the coast of Cornwall in 1973. Other than the rare flowers and wildlife she’s in charge of documenting, there are no other living organisms for miles. However, as time marches on, the volunteer’s grip on reality begins to slip, and she’s dragged deeper into the terror of the island. Gradually, the lines between what is real and what is a nightmare begin to blur under the weight of her isolation.

As with his acclaimed previous feature Bait, director Mark Jenkin’s use of grainy 16mm film creates an unforgettably eerie and haunted atmosphere and uniquely evokes his native Cornwall.
