A compelling documentary about the enigmatic British artist, told in his own words, and set against the wartime landscapes that inspired him.
Margy Kinmouth’s feature-length film brings to life this brilliant but still grossly undervalued British painter. Caught in the crossfire of war 80 years ago, Ravilious’s legacy largely sank without trace, until now. Made with the blessing of the Ravilious Estate, the documentary unfolds in Ravilious’s own words, through previously unseen private correspondence and rare archive film. Shot entirely on location in the UK, Portugal and Ireland, the film features commentary by other creative and celebrity luminaries including Ai Weiwei, Alan Bennett, Grayson Perry, Tamsin Grieg and many more.
