God’s Own Country (15)

Francis Lee’s thrillingly romantic story set in the heart of rural Yorkshire, chosen by our Come and Meet Another Me volunteer programming project.

Johnny Saxby (Josh O’Connor) works long hours on his family’s remote farm in the north of England. He is desperate to escape the daily grind of life on the farm where he lives. But with the arrival of Romanian farmhand Gheorghe, Johnny slowly finds hope, love and tenderness.

Both poignant and moving, this finely crafted British film features a host of standout performances, marking it out as an absolute must-see.

Cinematic wonders of the city

This screening is the first in a new series of volunteer-programmed events by our Come and Meet Another Me programming group—local cinema lovers screening film they want Bradford to see. This film was chosen as part of a series using film to represent the ‘wonders of Bradford’ as a district. Read more about the project on our blog.

God’s Own Country—directed by Yorkshire native Francis Lee and filmed near Keighley and Haworth—has been chosen for its representation of the magnificent landscape of the moors and rural areas of the district.
