A stellar trio assembles to take on the lead roles of Richard Strauss’ comic opera about aging, infidelity and selflessness in love.
This artful fin-de-siècle staging of Strauss’ grand Viennese comedy stars soprano Lise Davidson as the aging Marschallin, opposite mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as her lover Octavian and soprano Erin Morley as Sophie, the beautiful younger woman who stole his heart. Bass Gunther Grossbock returns as the churlish Baron Ochs, and Markus Bruck is Sophie’s wealthy father, Fanimal.
