Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (12A)

This classic 1966 drama features two heavyweight performances from Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton as a bitter, aging couple.

George (Richard Burton) and Martha (Elizabeth Taylor), return home from a work party drunk and argumentative. When Nick, a young biology professor, and his mousy wife, Honey, stop by for a nightcap, they join in with the argument and simmering tensions bubble over.

Adapted from the Edward Albee’s hit 1962 Broadway play, Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf? is a claustrophobic and compelling drama featuring masterful direction from Mike Nichols (The Graduate), and two of the most acclaimed performances of all time.

From Stage to Screen showcases a series of theatrical adaptations and inspirations that capture an audience's imagination. From intimate dramas to dazzling musicals, this strand shows how the power of a great story can transcend mediums.
