Fiddler on the Roof (U)

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, we’re pleased to present a 35mm screening of the classic, Academy Award-winning musical.

Nominated for eight Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director for Norman Jewison), this musical masterpiece tells the story of Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman, attempting to marry off three of his five daughters. While his tiny village is faced with antisemitic threats, his faith remains strong and true.

Featuring beautiful and memorable songs, breathtaking vistas from cinematographer Oswald Morris and excellent choreography, this is a triumphant and uplifting piece of film-making that still entertains audiences 50 years later.

Introduction

This screening will be introduced by broadcaster and writer Matthew Sweet.
