The Reconciliation Project was a film project that explored how Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions impacted human relationships around the world.
Supported by Arts Council England, artists Geoff Brokate and Kaye Martindale spoke to couples and families who had been separated due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. What evolves is a montage of the times we are living through. Confronted by their unknown futures, the participants’ emotional responses are mixed with confusion, a sense of injustice and surprising adaptability.
The Reconciliation Project was an important document for this unique moment in time. It is defined by its diverse stories and global reach, made possible by the power of online communication. And what we all share in common with these participants is that the answers we seek are left with question marks over their resolution.
