Yorkshire Games Festival 2021 saw our fantastic programme moving online for the first time, bringing gaming inspiration to you at home!
Game Talks
Game Talks took place on Friday 5 February 2021, hosted by festival friends Jordan Erica Webber (podcast host and presenter of The Gadget Show) and Keith Stuart (author and journalist at The Guardian).
Our fantastic guest speakers included Max Pears, Level Designer at CD Projekt Red; Sallyann Houghton of Epic Games; Melissa Phillips, Head of Studio at Silver Rain Games; freelance character design artist Lucy Kyriakidou; and Max Mead, Senior Environment Artist at Ubisoft Leamington. We also played host to a pop-up Usability Lab from Team17; joined forces with the Sheffield Gaming Podcast and the British Esports Association for special festival-themed streams; and wrapped it all up with a virtual pub quiz!
Bonus Level
We offered gaming-related resources online for young game-makers, including video masterclasses from BAFTA Young Game Designers. Our Northern Games Showcase also moved online, celebrating game production in Yorkshire with some great games you could play at home.
