Bradford Science Festival 2019

Mars rovers, slime-making, space VR, life-size videogames and a 12-metre rocket ship were just some of the attractions at Bradford Science Festival 2019.

At the museum and across the city, the festival explored themes including space travel, chemistry and caring for the environment.

Festival programme

At the museum

We launched our summer exhibition, Hello Universe, and unveiled Luke Jerram’s stunning Earth artwork Gaia in the museum foyer. To mark the 50-year anniversary of the first humans walking on the Moon, there were lots of activities, talks and shows to help you learn more about our incredible universe. Plus an adults-only Lates evening celebrated all things Bradford Science Festival with experiments, live music and brilliant shows.

In Bradford

With new venues joining the fun, the festival was bigger and better than ever before. Impressions Gallery formed the hub of Plastic Lab, exploring how plastic is affecting our planet. There were hands-on activities across City Park—chemistry workshops, Mars rovers and life-size videogames to name a few! The Broadway was transformed into the Space Zone, featuring amazing planetarium shows, VR, rockets and more. And you couldn’t miss Starchaser Industries’ 12-metre Nova 2 rocket outside City Hall!
