With hundreds of photographs on display, the Yorkshire Photographic Union’s Annual Exhibition celebrates the artistic ability and technical skill of photographers belonging to clubs across Yorkshire.
In the 122-year history of the Yorkshire Photographic Union, photographic equipment has changed dramatically. Huge, heavy wooden cameras have been replaced by digital technology and automatic settings—yet taking a ‘good picture’ is still a challenge. By offering members the chance to share their knowledge and enthusiasm, photographic clubs support photographers to develop, experiment and strive to capture their own perfect shot.
In Pursuit of Perfection: The Yorkshire Photographic Union Competition will showcase entries to the Union’s 2020 and 2021 Annual Exhibitions. With hundreds of photographs on display, as well as objects from our photographic technology collection, the exhibition will explore a range of answers to the question: what makes the perfect photograph?
An online gallery of selected images will be available on this webpage from Friday 16 April 2021. The full exhibition will open at the museum once government guidelines allow.
