Sound Check

Join us for a free, adults-only night at the museum as part of our Sound Season, a series of exhibitions, activities and events celebrating the role of sound in the museum and in our lives.

Sound Check is a free evening of sonic delights—come and delve into the world of synthesizers and Radiophonics, 19th-century acoustic experiments and novel musical instruments. Experience immersive installations, enjoy live performances and demos, and chat with enthusiasts, professionals, artists and curators who are fascinated by sound.

What’s on

  • Hear a modern interpretation of our glass harmonica—combining glass, water and electronics—by Andie Brown
  • See what percussionist Tenley Martin can do with our interactive Batphone!
  • Patch and a Pint: delicious, locally brewed beers and electronic wizardry from Wishbone Brewery
  • Guided tours of our fabulous exhibitions Sonic: Adventures in Audio and Boom: Experiments in Sound
