We'll be open every day from 10.00–17.00 during the summer holidays. Our activities are free, and you can book free museum admission tickets in advance.

Tinkering activities

Learn STEM skills as a family and take part in our brand-new tinkering drop-in sessions, where you'll explore our collection using the art of tinkering. Create your own objects using your imagination, a range of materials and a little specialist know-how.

The disappearing act

Ever wondered how filmmakers create special effects that have the power to blow you away? Find out in our brand-new interactive demonstration, part of our Switched On exhibition. Learn from the experts and recreate your own special effects that will leave your family and friends lost for words.

Summer Reading Challenge Family Trail

Learn about incredible inventors and inventions at the National Science and Media Museum this summer with the Summer Reading Challenge Gadgeteers. Pick up a trail booklet at the museum and explore seven floors of galleries, uncovering exciting objects and the stories behind them as you go.

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer holidays for exciting workshops in libraries across Bradford. Will you be a comic book creator or an incredible inventor?

Comic book creators

The world is in danger—who will save the day and how will they do it? Learn all about five fantastic scientists and how their discoveries or inventions have impacted our lives today.  Choose your favourite and create your own comic book inspired by their life story.  

Incredible Inventors

Tired of TV? Radio, really? What is the future of listening and watching? Be inspired by local inventors and experience the National Science and Media Museum collection. What machine would you invent to watch your favourite film or listen to your favourite song? Draw your plans and see what your friends and family think!
