Northern Games Showcase

If you'd like help shape new games being made by local talent, our Northern Games Showcase is the place.

This event is a platform for local developers to present their new games to a family-friendly audience, to beta test and receive valuable feedback.

You'll be able to test out games from these developers:

  • Slice Bar Games – Astra Protocol And Astra Protocol 2

Astra Protocol is a survival game where you pilot a spacecraft on limited resources, attempting to last as long as possible. You must carefully manage your fuel, shields, and arsenal whilst navigating asteroids and avoiding hostile spacecraft.

Astra Protocol 2 is a cassette futurism inspired space adventure where you must command a powerful space-faring craft on a search and rescue mission to uncover the mystery of the Astra Protocol.
  • Joseph Mahon – Untitled Prototype
  • The Bworg – Starblight

A chaotic, 8-bit inspired combination of retro and modern influences, with an odd cast of lively characters and a focus on bullet-dodging action.

The game takes the classic arcade genre and enhances it with deeper story, memorable characters, a more reactive world and a host of experimental and fresh mechanics across each of the game's many branching routes.
  • Amcog – Star Mine And Mop Tops

Star Mine is a 3D first person perspective space shoot ‘em up with awesome old school action! Take cargo, blast star jewels from asteroids, steal energy and fly amongst the stars.
  • Skyle Games – Lexslide And Lexagons

Showcasing their upcoming mobile word building game, Lexslide, as well as recently released game Lexagons. Lexslide is an arcade-style word building game where people have two minutes to make as many words as they can. Lexagons is a fun and unique puzzle game with no time pressure, where players must search for rare words through multiple choices of letters.
  • Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust

They have developed a number of games for web, on tablets, or even in virtual reality, that help us understand how things like hand-eye coordination and memory skills can influence the health, happiness, and academic success of Bradford's teenagers.
  • Theo Clarke – Pickle-Pocalypse

A goofy 2D arcade shooter game for Xbox. Play as heroic cucumbers fighting for survival in a world of zombified pickles. Featuring a varied lineup of weapons that randomise every few seconds, and fun & frantic gameplay for 1-4 players.
  • Kyle Banks – Farewell North

Restore colour to the desolate islands of Farewell North, an open world journey where you play as a collie traveling with his owner. Explore land and sea, uncover hidden paths, evade monsters, and free wildlife to bring colour back to the world while revealing an emotional story about saying farewell.
  • Fish Bladder Games – Planet Possible

An action game played on mobile that uses your body movements to navigate a 3D robot character in an endless runner experience.
  • Kettu Studios – Dogs' Dales

Skipton-based digital artist and film professional Virpi Kettu, of Kettu Studios, is the creator of Dogs’ Dales. It is full of regional folklore creatures and dancing dog characters inspired by real people.
  • Gaslight Games – Walkies

Happy-go-lucky dog helps save a local park, with help from furry (and not so furry) friends! Wag those tails and bound and bounce your way through this whimsical adventure!
  • Badgerhammer – Dunk Dunk

An intense pick-up-and-play multiplayer action basketball game. Precise player-controlled throwing & dunking, plus a unique stretchy block make for nail-bitingly tense matches.

Play alone, with a friend or a house full of friends. Dress up your mascots and dunk basketballs, balloons or even anvils in crazy locations from all over the universe like space stations, dinosaur parks and haunted houses. Dunk Dunk is basketball game like no other.
